In this episode Leonard and Sheldon lied to their neighbor Penny so they wouldn’t have to hear her horrid singing in RENT.  Leonard had initiated the lie, and Sheldon didn’t feel comfortable because he didn’t think it was believable and that they would get caught.  Sheldon takes matters into his own hands and creates a lie that is full proof.
Sheldon explains to Penny that Leonard lied and the “truth” is Leonard is taking him to Long Beach to see his cousin Leo for a drug intervention.  Sheldon doesn’t have a cousin Leo, but to make sure that they have details and proof that Leo exists.  Sheldon created a:

• Facebook page for “Leopold Houston”
• A blog depicting his descent into drug use
• A desperate yet hopeful listing on eHarmony.com
